    WORLD RECIPES - Cabbage Rolls

Cabbage Rolls

Source Country: Singapore
Preparation Time: 30 minute
Cook Time: 2 ½ - 3 ½ hours

Ingredients:
1 ½ lbs ground beef
1 cup rice, cooked
1 diced onion
½ lb diced bacon
Add salt and pepper to taste
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
Allspice garlic ~ 1/8 teaspoon
1 shredded carrot
1 shredded celery stock
1 head – green cabbage, cored

Sauce:
4 cups water
1 can tomato soup (Campbell’s Italian Fiesta)
1 cup ketchup

Preparation:

  1. Fry bacon and remove from heat, reserve bacon grease
  2. Fry onion in bacon grease
  3. Boil cabbage until tender. Shock in cold water and then drain
  4. In a bowl, mix onion, bacon, cooked rice, garlic, carrots, celery and ground beef
  5. Add seasoning to mixture
  6. Pick a cabbage leaf and fill with filling and roll the leaf up.
  7.  Repeat with remaining cabbage leafs and put in casserole
  8. Mix ingredients for sauce in a large bowl
  9. Pour sauce over cabbage rolls
  10. Cover casserole and place in an oven with 350 ºF  for ½  - 1 hour
  11. Reduce heat to 325 ºF  and allow to cook for another 2 – 2 ½ hours
